(i) — (e) Algae are the diverse group of aquatic organisms that have the ability to perform photosynthesis. Algae show autotrophic nutrition because they prepare food in the presence of sunlight and the pigment chlorophyll. (ii) — (c) Cuscuta is an example of parasitic plant. It derives its nutrition from the host plant. Cuscuta lacks the pigment chlorophyll in them. (iii) — (d) The insectivorous plants grow only in the soil that do not contain the mineral nitrogen. Any plant especially adapted for capturing and digesting insects and other animals by means of trap is called insectivorous plant. Example: pitcher plant (iv) - (b) Lichens are the examples of the symbiotic nutrition. In the symbiotic relationship of lichen, the fungus (saprotroph) and the algae (autotroph) live in a relationship. Algae being an autotroph prepares its own food and share it with the fungus, a saprotroph. (v) — (a) Mushrooms are examples of saprotrophs. They are the non-green plants and obtain their food from dead and decaying organic matter as they do not contain the pigment chlorophyll in them.
