The root system is the underground, non-green part of a plant. It consists of a primary root and its branches. It anchors the plant firmly in the ground and absorbs water and nutrients from the ground. It also prevents soil erosion.

A leaf mainly consists of two parts namely lamina and petiole. The broad, green part of the leaf is called lamina. The thin stalk with which leaf is attached to the stem is called petiole.

The leaf is a thin, flattened green part of a plant that is attached to the stem or branch at a node. A leaf usually consists of three main parts which are: (a) Leaf Blade (b) Petiole (c) Midrib. Several branches arise from the midrib which is known as veins. The branches which arise from the veins are called as veinlets. The arrangement of veins and veinlets in the leaf blade or lamina is known as leaf venation. Venation is of two types: (a) Reticulate venation (b) Parallel venation. The veins present on a leaf are responsible for the transfer of water and minerals in the leaves.
