Ohm's law: The potential difference $V$ , across the ends of a given metallic wire in an electric circuit is directly proportional to the current $I$ flowing through it, provided its temperature remains the same. This is called Ohm's law.

According to Ohm's law.

$V \propto I$

$\frac{V}{I} = R (constant)$ (where $R$ is resistance of coil)

Following circuit diagram is used to verify the Ohm's law.

Ammeter should be connected in series to measure the electric current passing through the circuit, and voltmeter should be connected in parallel to the resistance (coil) in which the potential difference is to be measured.

Plotting a graph between $V$ and $I$ is shown in the following diagram.

The slope of a $V - I$ graph represents the resistance of the coil.
