Boyle’s Law:
This law states that “At constant temperature, the pressure of a fixed amount of gas varies inversely with the volume of a gas”.

Graphical verification of law According to Boyle’s law:
Hyperbola in the first Quadrant is obtained when the graph between P and V is plotted. It shows that the there is inverse relation between pressure and volume.

Significance of law to the mountaineers:
The Pressure of gas decreases with increase in height. According to Boyle’s law, pressure is inversely proportional to volume.
The pressure decreases as we climb the mountains, this causes increase in the gaseous volume. Volume is inversely proportional to density so, when volume of gas increases on climbing the mountains, its density decreases. This means, less amount of oxygen is available for breathing. Due to which the person feels uneasiness, headache etc. That is why mountaineers carry oxygen cylinder with them.
