The fertilisation which occurs outside the human body is called in vitro fertilisation (IVF). In this process, the ova (eggs) from the woman's ovaries are let to be fertilised by the sperm in laboratory conditions. Once fertilised, the zygote is transferred to the mother's uterus. Babies born through this technique are called test-tube babies.
