1-d. Animals are categorised as vertebrates and invertebrates based on the presence and absence of vertebral column and endoskeleton. The animals which have a backbone are called vertebrates. Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals are vertebrates. 2-c. The earthworm does not have bones, they move by the action of two groups of muscles and bristle-like structures called setae.
