${\mathrm{M}}_2\mathrm{O}$ is the oxide of a metal $\text{'}\mathrm{M}\text{'}$ which is above hydrogen in the activity series. ${\mathrm{M}}_2\mathrm{O}$ when dissolved in water forms the corresponding hydroxide which is a good conductor of electricity.
