$\Rightarrow f (- 2) = 12 {(- 2)}^{3} + 25 {(- 2)}^{2} - 4 (- 2) - 12$

$\Rightarrow f (- 2) = 12 (- 8) + 25 (4) - 8 - 12$

$\Rightarrow f (- 2) = - 96 + 100 - 4$

$\Rightarrow f (- 2) = 0$

$(x + 2)$ , is a factor of $f (x)$ by the factor theorem.

Dividing the cubic by $x + 2$ , using long division.

Divide the first term of the polynomial by $x$ :

$12 x^{3} \div x = 12 x^{2}$ .

Multiply $(x + 2)$ by $12 x^{2}$ : $12 x^{2} (x + 2) = 12 x^{3} + 24 x^{2}$

Subtract: $(12 x^{3} + 25 x^{2}) - (12 x^{3} + 24 x^{2}) = x^{2}$
