The two important steps or reaction that take place during photosynthesis are light and dark reaction.

With the help of light, ATP and NADPH₂ are formed in light reaction. An additional carbon dioxide molecule is also formed during this, which is used by Calvin cycle, along with these reactants, to produce glucose.

Calvin cycle oxidizes NADPH to NADP+ and ATP to ADP + Pi. These reactants are then used by light reaction and are reduced to NADPH and ATP again with the help of a water molecule. In this way, photosynthesis recycles its own reactants in a series.
