In the V - I graph, the slope of the graph is given by slope = R = V I whereas in the I - V graph, the slope of the graph is given by slope = 1 R = I V . When the resistors are connected in series, their equivalent resistance is higher than the highest resistance among the two resistances. Whereas when the resistors are connected in parallel, their equivalent resistance is lower than the least resistance among them. Thus, in series combination, R is maximum and in parallel combination R is minimum. In the V - I graph, the slope of series combination of resistors is more than the slope of the parallel combination of resistors which is correctly labelled as slope = R in series is more than that in parallel. In the I - V graph, the slope of series combination of resistors is less than the slope of the parallel combination of resistors which is also correctly labelled as slope = 1 R in series is less than that in parallel as R is more in series than in parallel so 1 R is less in series than in parallel. Hence, both the graphs as plotted by the students are correctly labelled.
