Under what conditions does a political party get recognised as a national party?

Accepted Answer

A political party is recognised as a national party if it fulfils any of the following conditions:

(A) The candidate puts up by the party in any four or more states, at the last general elections to the Lok Sabha or to the Assembly of the state concerned, have secured at least six per cent of the total valid votes polled in each of those states at the general elections, and at least four of them have been elected to the Lok Sabha from any state(s)

(B) At the last general elections to the Lok Sabha, the party has won at least two per cent of the total number of seats in the Lok Sabha, and the party's candidates have been elected to the Lok Sabha from not less than three states

(C) The party is recognised as a state party in at least four states
