1. For this activity, take a white sheet of paper on a table.
2. Take a comb and close all its openings with some black strip of paper and leave one in the middle. Now hold the comb perpendicular to the sheet of paper.
3. Take a torch and throw light through the opening of the comb from one side. Adjust the torch and the comb until you will see a ray of light along with the paper on the other side of the paper. Do not move the comb and the torch.
4. Place a plane mirror strip in the path of the light ray.

5. The light ray gets reflected in another direction after striking the mirror. This ray called incident ray. The ray that bounces back from the surface after reflection is known as the reflected ray.
6. Draw lines showing the position of the plane mirror, the incident ray and the reflected ray on the paper and remove the objects.
7. Draw a line making an angle of $90 °$ to the line representing the mirror at the point where the incident ray strikes the mirror. This line is known as the normal, and the angle between the normal and incident ray is called the angle of incidence. The angle between the normal and the reflected ray is known as the angle of reflection.

8. Repeat the above activity and this time cut the projecting portion of the sheet in the middle. Observe the reflected ray and ake sure that the reflected ray extends to the projected portion of the paper.
9. Bend that part of the projected portion on which the reflected ray falls. You can see the reflected ray. Now again bring the paper back to the original position.
10. The whole sheet of paper represents one plane. The incident ray, the normal at the point of incidence and the reflected ray are all in this plane.

11. While bending the paper, you create a plane which is different from the plane in which the incident ray and the normal lie. Then you cannot see the reflected ray.
12. This shows that the incident ray, the normal at the point of incidence and the reflected ray all lie in the same plane. This is another law of reflection.
