The stems of the jute plant are harvested and tied together into a bundle. These bundles are soaked in pond water for a few days. This process is known as retting.

The wool is the fibre obtained from the hair of sheep. The hair is removed from the animals with the help of a special clipper or a large razor. It is also carried out with the help of a shearing machine. This process of removal of wool from sheep is called shearing.

The silk is a natural fibre which is obtained from the cocoon of the silkworm. The silkworm is cultivated to produce silk. The rearing of silkworms for the production of silk is known as sericulture.
