Fabrics are the materials made by weaving or knitting cotton, silk, wool, linen, etc. They are used for making clothes, curtains, etc. Fabrics are of two types such as natural fabrics and synthetic fabrics.

Cotton is a plant fibre obtained from the fruits of its plant. When the crop grows to maturity, the cotton bolls burst open and seeds with their fibres are harvested. Cotton is usually hand-picked from cotton bolls. The process of removing seeds from cotton balls is called ginning. It is done by machines.

The cotton fibres obtained after ginning are made into yarn. This process is called spinning. During this process, fibres from a mass of cotton bolls are taken and then twisted. This makes the fibres stronger for making fabrics.
