Sour milk contains lactic acid. Lactic acid is formed due to the action of bacteria on milk. The pH value of the milk is approximately 6 , but it reduces to 4 . 5 − 5 . 5 due to the formation of lactic acid and turns sour in taste. The formula for lactic acid is C 3 H 6 O 3 . It is an organic acid.
