Blood is a fluid connective tissue that helps in the transport of oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and wastes throughout the body. The blood vessels include arteries, veins and capillaries. Arteries carry blood away from the heart to various organs of the body. Veins collect the blood from different organs and bring it back to the heart. Capillaries are the smallest vessels that have one cell thick wall and are responsible for the exchange of materials between the blood and surrounding tissue.
