Therefore, this resource-intensive approach has become really unmanageable for small farmers, because they have very less or no savings to invest in their agriculture. To cope up with these difficulties many farmers avail themselves credit from informal sources and moneylenders. Further, due to crop failures and low returns from agriculture have forced them to fall into the trap of indebtedness. The serious ill effect of indebtedness includes frustration, depression, mental imbalance and most importantly mental conflict of the poor farmer causing them to commit suicide. Due to heavy burden of loan, the farmers are neither able to repay the loan nor able to improve their economic condition. There are various prevailing reasons for the suicide committed by the farmers of our country. Multiple social, economic, political, and individual crises have forced them to end their lives. But indebtedness becomes the major reason for suicide in our country.
