Neon is a non-metal, it is an inert gas and is non-reactive because it has complete octet configuration. Graphite is a solid non-metal, but it conducts electricity, it is an exception from the properties of non-metals. Iodine is a solid non-metal; is used as an antiseptic to kill germs as it is non-reactive also to some extent. Aluminium is a solid metal which is malleable and ductile, due to this property it is used for making aluminium foils and as it is a good conductor of electricity, it is used to make aluminium wires. Diamond is a solid non-metal and is the hardest material known; it is used to cut glass. Mercury is the liquid metal; most of the metals exist as solids; mercury is an exception.
