It is calculated by adding up the total sum of consumption of goods and services, government spendings, retail investments, and net exports (exports greater than imports).

The primary sector contributes $17 %$ of GDP by involving $60 %$ of our population in agriculture and its allied sector. In $2011 - 12$ the share was at $14 %$ . This sector has a lot of policy neglect.

The secondary sector contributes $16 %$ of GDP. India's new national manufacturing policies focus to make this at $25 %$ within a decade.

The tertiary sector contributes $58 %$ of GDP. There is a growth of $7.4 %$ in each decade.
