A habitat is a place where an organism adapts itself to survive. The habitat provides all the requirements to the organism such as the food, shelter, water, air, light, and place for breeding to the plants and animals living in it. Desert, mountain region, forest, ocean, pond, etc., are different habitats.

The camel is adapted to live in the desert habitat and exhibits adaptations such as:
1. The camel has long legs which help to keep its body away from the hot sand in the desert.
2. A camel can drink an excessive amount of water (when it is available) and store it in the body.
3.A camel passes a small amount of urine; its dung is dry, and it does not sweat.
4. A camel's hump has 'fat' stored in it. In case of emergency, it is converted to obtain water.

The biotic components of habitat are living things such as animals, plants, microorganisms. The abiotic components are non-living things such as the air, water, soil, rocks, etc.
