A magnet is a device which exerts a force on other magnets, magnetic materials and current carrying conductors. A magnet can be permanent magnet or a current carrying wire. A magnet has two poles-north and south.

In figure 16.2, the two bar magnets are attracting each other. Label their four poles and draw force arrows appropriately to show magnetic force on each magnet.
