Its functions include filtering the blood, reabsorbing substances like glucose, amino acids, etc., and secretion of some nitrogenous waste products like creatinine and removal of substances like potassium ions from the blood and are then added to the urine.

The main parts of the nephron are as follows:

A nephron consists of the Malpighian corpuscle and a long coiled tubule.

At the proximal end of the nephron is the Malpighian corpuscle, which consists of Bowman’s capsule and the glomerulus.

Bowman’s capsule is a double-walled, cup-like structure that surrounds the dense network of blood capillaries called the glomerulus.

The tubule of the nephron is differentiated into the proximal convoluted tubule, Henle’s loop, and the distal convoluted tubule. The distal tubule opens into the collecting duct.
