In a flower, dicliny refers to the existence of only one kind of reproductive whorl. As a result, dicliny is referred to as unisexuality. A plant can be monoecious (both male and female flowers are borne on the same plant) or dioecious (male and female flowers are borne on separate plants) in dicliny.

Perisperm is a permanent remnant of the nucellus. In certain seeds, it encloses the embryo and provides nourishment for it. In an angiosperm seed, it covers, stores food, and provides nourishment to the embryo. It is a diploid species.

A modified cotyledon, or seed leaf, is assumed to be the scutellum. This seed leaf never develops into a green structure in grasses, and its sole purpose is to digest endosperm and deliver nutrients to the rest of the embryo. It functions to absorb nutrients from the endosperm during germination and is relatively thin with a large surface area.
