Pollution is the introduction of unwanted substances introduced in the environment that affects humans, plants, animals, and birds. Pollution has increased the risk of cancer, respiratory diseases, heart diseases, etc in humans. The substances that cause pollution are called pollutants.

Types of Pollution:

The common pollution problems that we have to face can be classified in three ways -
I. According to the component of the environment: air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution.

II. According to the physical nature of the pollutant: gaseous pollution, dust pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, radioactive pollution.

III. According to origin: natural and artificial or anthropogenic (man-made).

(a) Natural pollutions originate from natural process example- forest fire, volcanic eruptions, dust storms, natural organic and inorganic decays, etc.

(b) Artificial or anthropogenic pollutions are those which originate due to activities of human example- industrial pollution, agricultural pollution, automobile pollution, domestic pollution etc.

The artificial pollutions are the major problems as they are increasing day by day. Human activities increase pollutions like air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution and radioactive pollution.
