Colloidal Solution Emulsion

In a colloidal sol, the dispersed phase is a solid and the dispersion medium is a liquid In an emulsion, both the dispersed phase and dispersion medium are liquids.

They appear to be homogeneous but actually it is heterogeneous.
If a mixture of two immiscible or partially miscible liquids is shaken, coarse dispersion of one liquid on the other is obtained, which is known as an emulsion.

Lyophilic and lyophobic colloidal solutions or Sols are generally prepared by different types of methods. Two immiscible or partially miscible liquids are mixed thoroughly, droplets of one liquid is mixed with others in the presence of some emulsifying agents.
