The parts of the human respiratory system in the order of oxygen transport is shown below: Nostril → Pharynx → Trachea → Bronchi → Bronchioles → Alveoli → Capillaries → Blood → Tissue Air enters the body through the nostrils, travels through the pharynx, and enters the trachea. The trachea divides into two bronchi, which lead to the lungs. Within the lungs, the bronchi divide into smaller branches called bronchioles, which ultimately terminate in small air sacs called alveoli. In the alveoli, oxygen diffuse into the nearby capillaries, where it binds to haemoglobin molecules in red blood cells. The oxygenated blood is then transported through the pulmonary veins to the heart, which pumps it out to the rest of the body. In the tissues, oxygen is released from haemoglobin and diffuses into the cells, where it is used for cellular respiration.
