The life cycle of a butterfly is really intriguing. Butterflies develop from birth to death in four stages—in the first stage the female butterfly lays eggs; in the second stage the egg hatches and a caterpillar is born with only one job—to eat, eat, and eat; in the third Stage the fully-grown caterpillar stops eating, protects itself from outside by making a protective covering, and is known as pupa; in the final stage, the cocoon of the pupa breaks and a butterfly emerges. This is also called the reproductive stage when the butterfly has only one duty—to mate and lay eggs.
