Moss — Many haploid spores are formed as a result of meiosis taking place in the spore mother cells inside the spore sac of the sporangium.

Fern — Meiosis takes place in these sporangia-bearing spore mother cells, present in the ventral surface of the leaf, thereby producing many haploid spores.

Gymnosperm — They have two types of gametophytes– megasporophylls and microsporophylls. Reduction division takes place in the megasporangia present on the megasporophylls (producing megaspores) and the microsporangia present on the microsporophylls that produce pollen grains.

Angiosperm — Reduction division takes place in the anthers of the stamen (producing haploid pollen grains) and in the ovary of the pistil (producing eggs) during the sexual reproduction phase.
