(i) Microsporangia: The anther is a four-sided (tetragonal) structure consisting of four microsporangia located at the corners, two in each lobe. The microsporangia develop further and become pollen sacs having sporogenous tissue which is made up of microspore mother cells. The microspore mother cells undergo meiosis and produce microspores. These microspores develop into male gametophytes, which produce male gametes.

(ii) Megasporangia: Megasporangia or megasporangium also known as the ovule. It contains the female gametophyte, comprising the egg cell. The integuments surround and protect the gametophyte, forming a protective outer layer. Following pollination and fertilization, the ovule develops into a seed, initiating the formation of the fruit, ultimately ensuring the propagation of the plant species.

(iii) Female gametophyte: The female gametophyte, also known as the embryo sac in angiosperms, is the structure that contains the female reproductive cells and is involved in sexual reproduction. It develops from a megaspore within the ovule. The female gametophyte typically consists of a 7 cells, including an egg cell, 2 synergids, 3 antipodal, and one central cells. It is within the female gametophyte that fertilization occurs when a sperm cell from the male gametophyte (pollen) fuses with the egg cell, leading to the formation of the embryo.
