Why isn't it possible for animals to make food from CO 2 , H 2 O and sunlight, like plants.

The process through which plant makes food is called photosynthesis. Other than carbon dioxide, water and sunlight, plants require a pigment called chlorophyll, which is present in an organelle called a chloroplast. Chlorophyll captures the sunlight which is the initial step of a complicated process of carbohydrates synthesis. Animals cells have no chloroplasts hence no chlorophyll i.e, animals are unable to prepare food from CO 2 , H 2 O and sunlight.
