Mutation refers to the sudden change that occurs in our DNA sequence, inherited from one generation to the next. The changes can occur because of errors during DNA replication, recombinational error, the introduction of mutagens (both physical and chemical), or infection by certain viruses. The term mutation was introduced by Hugo de Vries.

Origin of new species:

New changes arise in the species due to the inheritance of developed traits and the accession of new traits in each generation. And the new species are created slowly. According to Lamarckism, it is the primary region for evolution. For example, the giraffe’s neck lengthens in each generation. As a result, the giraffe’s neck is much longer than its ancestor. And the shorter-necked giraffe gives rise to a unique species (the long-necked giraffe).
