Charles Darwin proposed the theory of natural selection. Darwin went out on a voyage in the M.S. Beagle in 1835 as a naturalist. He travelled to various islands. He studied with all his attention the fauna and flora of the Galapagos Islands. He analysed all the data he collected and published the Theory of Natural Selection. This theory is widely accepted as the primary source of evolution, though it has been modified in modern times.

Living beings having beneficial variations are selected by nature. Spencer called them "survival of the fittest." Nature selects those who are fit in the struggle for existence. Characters that help them adapt to nature are inherited generation after generation, and new species are formed. In this way, organic evolution takes place.

From the above facts, Darwin proposed the theory of natural selection, which states: "As there is a prodigality of reproduction and as there is a continuous struggle for existence, it is presumed that any variation that is beneficial will help the animals survive in the struggle for existence" and are selected by nature. It can be assumed that selected beneficial variations are inherited. In this way, new species are formed by means of natural selection.
