It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. A nine-course meal consisting of various dishes is served on banana leaves and people sit on the floor to have it. 5-d Gandhi Jayanti or the birthday of Father of Our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, is celebrated on 2nd of October every year.
