Wells and Tube-wells: In the northern Indian plains wells and tube wells are frequently found as much of the rainwater is drained by rivers and streams.

Canals: Canals are utilised to irrigate the agricultural fields in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Northern Rajasthan.
