Write a note on the Kitab-ul-Hind.

(i) Kitab-ul-Hind was written by Al-Biruni in 1301. It is also known by the name of Tarikh-ul-Hind.

(ii) This book is simple and lucid, was written in Arabic language and was divided into 80 chapters.

(iii) it dealt with various subjects like religion, philosophy, astronomy, laws, social customs as well as the political life of the people.It also included weights and measures, iconography, laws and metrology.

(iv) Generally he adopted a mathematical approach. He begins each chapter with a question followed up with a description and comparison of cultures.

(v) About his work he described that it would help those who want to discuss religious questions with the Hindus, and as a repertory of information to those who want to associate with them.
