Mineral resources are rich in Gujarat. In Gujarat available minerals are contributed to the rapid growth of industries. The major types of minerals found in Gujarat are limestone, bauxite, dolomite, fluorspar, china clay, lignite, gypsum, akik, silica, copper, lead, zinc, manganese, graphite, bentonite, natural gas, mineral oil, etc.

China clay is used in textile, paper, pesticides, used in cosmetics, plastic, and cement industries it is distributed in the districts of Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Surat, and Panchmahal.

Fluorspar is very useful for melting metals. In entire Asia, it is available only in Gujarat. It is distributed in the districts of Vadodara, and Bharuch.

Limestone is used in industries like cement, iron, steel, paper, soda ash, colour, purification of sugar, etc. It is distributed in the districts of Junagadh, Jamnagar, Kheda, Kutch, Amreli, Bharuch, Banaskantha, Surat, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, and Bhavnagar.

Bauxite is used in aluminium-based industries It is distributed in the districts of Kutch, Junagadh, Amreli, Valsad, Jamnagar, Kheda, Sabarkantha, Panchmahal, Bhavnagar, and Porbandar.

Dolomite is used in glass, steel, mosaic tiles, fertilizers, and purified seawater and distributed in the districts of Vadodara, Amreli, Banaskantha, Bharuch, Sabarkantha, and Narmada.

Gypsum is used in Chemical fertilizers, colours, glass, and pesticide industries. It is distributed in the districts of Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch, and Amreli.

Akik is used in making ornaments and is seen in the districts of Kutch, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, and Khambhat.

Lignite is used for producing solar electricity and tar and in chemical industries. It is seen in the districts of Kutch, Bharuch, Mehsana, Bhavnagar, and Surat.

Graphite is used in explosives, pencils, thermocol, dry batteries, etc. It is seen in the districts of Vadodara, Panchmahal, and Dahod.

Copper is used to making electricity wire, gold ornaments, and vessels. It is distributed in the Banaskantha district.

Zinc is used to make storage batteries and zinc oxide. It is distributed in the Banaskantha district.

Lead is used for coating galvanized sheets and vessels. It is distributed in the Banaskantha district.

Mineral oil and Natural gas are used in diesel, petrol, naphtha, kerosene, colours, tar, artificial fibre, and petroleum gas industries. It is distributed in the districts of Ahmedabad, Kheda, Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Surat, and Vadodara.
