1. Guru Nanak's Concept of God: Guru Nanak Dev explained the concept of God in his verse, "Japuji Sahib." He mentioned that, God is one, and the Almighty is the ultimate power. He believed that God is Omnipresent, formless, and merciful.

2. Emphasis on Morality: Guru Nanak Dev laid stress on the principle of morality and similarly, he asked his followers to lead a pious life, and to earn their livelihood in a pious manner.

3. Condemnation of Caste system and rituals: The Society among the Hindus was divided into four main castes. The lower castes were treated with hate by the upper classes. Hence, Guru Nanak introduced the Langar and Pangat system to practice equality. Guru Nanak also opposed idol worship and criticised Yajnas and sacrifices. He believed that human beings should practice the virtues of truth, and forgiveness.

4. Guru Nanak's belief in Karma: Guru Nanak believed in the theory of Karma and believed that humans live according to the deeds they perform. He also believed that people should recite Nam, so that humans can receive salvation after death.

5. Belief in Brotherhood: Guru Nanak preached the idea of Universal Brotherhood, and he believed that everyone should practice love. He furher added that Hindus and Muslims are the same.

6. Self Surrender: Guru Nanak also believed that humans should surrender their ego to God. Similarly, self and ego are also essential.
