Write about the behavioral adaptations of chimpanzees.

Wolfgang Kohler did an extensive study of the behaviour of chimpanzees. He is known for the formulation of Gestalt psychology. He observed that the apes were not able to reach the fruit, they stayed and thought about solving the difficulty. After a while, they started using the tools to solve the difficulty and reach the fruit. Kohler termed this method as insight learning.

One of chimpanzee's favourite foods is termites. They eat a wide variety of food items which involves fruits, seeds, leaves, insects, flowers, bark, and honey. The difficulties for chimpanzees were to reach the termites living deep inside the wood. Chimpanzees pick up a twig and stripe their leaves off and then pricked the twig into the holes in the termite hill, leave it there for a while, and gently pull it out. Then they eat termites stuck to the twig. They also like to eat oil-palm nuts, kola nuts, and panda nuts, whose shells are so hard to open. The chimpanzees use hard stones to break them.
