I am Remo. I live in water. Remo is the name of the fish. Like us, fish also need to take in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide in order to survive. But instead of lungs, they use gills. Gills sit under the operculum. This is called the gill slit. Gills are branching organs located on the side of fish heads that have many small blood vessels called capillaries. This process of breathing begins when a fish gulps water through its mouth. As the fish opens its mouth, and passes through the feathery filaments of the fish's gills, which are rich in blood. These gill filaments absorb oxygen from the water and move it into the bloodstream.
