Sedimentary cycles are biogeochemical cycles with the Earth's crust as the reservoir. Iron, calcium, phosphorus, sulphur, and other earthbound elements are all part of the sedimentary cycle.

The cycle starts with the weathering of rocks, where minerals are released from the earth crust in the form of salts. Because some salts are soluble in water, they travel via streams and lakes before settling in seas. Other salts, on the other hand, are insoluble and return to the earth's crust through sedimentation. They are assimilated into the rocks, and the weathering of the rocks restarts the cycle.

The following are important characteristics of a sedimentary in an ecosystem: 1) It is the lithosphere's primary source of nutritional elements, which are released during weathering. For example, the phosphorus, sulphur, and iodine cycles.

2) The sedimentary cycle is much slower than the gaseous cycle, taking much longer.
