The Lakshadweep islands group

This island group is covered with tiny coral reefs. They were formerly known as Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindive. Lakshadweep was given its name in 1973. It just occupies a limited area of $32$ sq. km. Lakshadweep's administrative headquarters is on Kavaratti Island. The flora and fauna of this island group are very diverse. Pitli Island, which is uninhabited, has a bird sanctuary.

The Andaman and Nicobar islands group

The long chain of islands that stretches from north to south in the Bay of Bengal, are the islands of Andaman and Nicobar. They are large in number, as well as more diverse and dispersed. The group of islands is split into two distinct categories: the Andaman Islands in the north and the Nicobar Islands in the south. These islands are supposed to be raised portions of submarine mountains. These island groups are vital to the nation's strategic interests. This group of islands also has a diverse range of flora and fauna. These islands are close to the equator, have an equatorial climate, with a dense forest cover.
