Write the fractions and check whether they are equivalent or not.

We have,

Fraction $= \frac{Shaded parts}{Total number of parts}$

Shaded part $= 5$ and total number of parts $= 15$

Fraction $= \frac{5}{15}$ .

HCF of $5$ and $15$ is $5$ . Dividing both numerator and denominator by $5$ we get:

$\frac{5}{15} = \frac{5 \div 5}{15 \div 5} = \frac{1}{3}$

So, the first fraction is $\frac{1}{3}$

In the second figure:

Shaded part $= 3$ and total number of parts $= 9$

Fraction $= \frac{3}{9}$

HCF of $3$ and $9$ is $3$ . Dividing both numerator and denominator by $3$ , we get:

$\frac{3}{9} = \frac{3 \div 3}{9 \div 3} = \frac{1}{3}$

So, the second fraction $= \frac{1}{3}$

In the third figure:

Shaded part $= 2$ and total number of parts $= 6$

Fraction $= \frac{2}{6}$

HCF of $2$ and $6$ is $3$ . Dividing both numerator and denominator by $2$ we get:

$\frac{2}{6} = \frac{2 \div 2}{6 \div 2} = \frac{1}{3}$

So, the third fraction $= \frac{1}{3}$

In the fourth figure:

Shaded part $= 1$ and total number of parts $= 3$

Fraction $= \frac{1}{3}$

Hence, all the fractions are equivalent.
