There are four types of blood group generally occurs in human i.e. A, B, AB and O. These blood group may be either positive (A⁺ etc.), or negative (A^- etc.). The procedure in identifying a blood group from a kit involves the following steps:

1. Identification of blood group:
Check for the Anti-A and Anti-B for the presence of the clump: If you got a clump in Anti-A it means you have type A blood group. Similarly, if you have clumps in the Anti-B that means you have type B blood, and clumps in both Anti-A and Anti-B, then you have AB type blood and none of the clumps is present in Anti-A and Anti-B then your blood type is O-type.

2. Identification of Rh factor:
Check the Anti-D patch clumps: If clumps present in the Anti-D then you are Rh-positive. In this case, add a plus (+) to your blood type, and if no clumps then in this case you are Rh-negative, add a minus (-) sign to your blood type. If Rh-positive blood is given again after the antibodies form, they will attack the foreign red blood cells, causing them to clump together or agglutinate.
