When we add phenolphthalein indicator solution to each test tube A, B, and C containing some colourless liquid, if the colour of the solution changes to pink, that solution is considered basic; if the colour of the solution does not change, that solution is considered acidic or neutral. This is due to the fact that phenolphthalein turns colourless in acidic and neutral solutions, but pink in basic solutions.
