(a) Translucent - (iv) Wax paper In some objects, light can partially pass through them, i.e., we can see the things but not clearly. So, these kinds of objects are called translucent objects. It only allows some of the light rays to pass through it. (b) Shadow - (i) Opaque object Light cannot pass through an opaque object, and this leads to the formation of shadow. It gives us some information about the shapes of objects. Sometimes, it can also mislead us because the shape of the shadow is, not exactly as of the subject. (c) Reflection - (ii) Mirror A mirror is a smooth plane surface that reflects most of the light incident on it. When we see our face inside the mirrors, we see a reflection of our face in the mirror. (d) Periscope - (iii) Can see the image behind the wall A periscope is an instrument for observation over, around or through an object, obstacle or condition that prevents direct line-of-sight observation from an observer's current position. So using a periscope, we can watch behind the wall without actually climbing on it.
