Histologically, kidney are divisible into two regions as renal cortex and renal medulla. Renal cortex is outer peripheral, red coloured and granular region. Cortex contains Malpighian bodies, convoluted tubules and blood vessels. Medulla is inner region of kidney with pale red colour and striated appearance. Medulla mainly consists of Loops of Henle and collecting ducts.
