5R stands for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, and Refuse. These are known as the 5R of waste management. Note: Following these 5R principles have positive effects on the environment: (i) Reduce- By reducing the amount of waste, fewer resources would be utilized. (ii) Reuse- By reusing waste material, money and resources are saved from being utilized in a new product. (iii) Recycle- Recycling means converting waste material into other useful products. Recycling waste material helps saving resources and environment. (iv) Recover- Recover means utlizing waste material for other useful purposes like burning unrefined fuels for energy purposes. (v) Refuse- Refuse to using plastic products. The less plastic products, the less pollution and healthier the environment.
