Reproduction is an essential biological process that maintains the continuity of life of certain species on the earth. The process of producing new offspring in advanced organisms is carried out by the cooperative functioning of different organs of the reproductive system.

Any disease that affects the reproductive system of all individuals of a species causes infertility in organisms. The long term effect of such a condition results in the extinction of the species on the earth.

There can be the following reasons for infertility in organisms-

The inability of gonads (ovaries and testes) to produce good quality sex cells due to hormonal imbalance or some other reasons causes infertility.

Blockage of the fallopian tube ceases fertilisation, hence leading to infertility.

Abnormal conditions of the uterus prevent pregnancy.

Hence, a chain of producing new offspring cannot be continued and lead to the permanent loss of such individuals in the population.
