Number of km Nandini walked = 9 10 km - 1 2 km To subtract these fractions, we will convert these fractions into like fractions. So, we will take LCM of their denominators. Factors of 10 = 2 × 5 Factors of 2 = 1 × 2 LCM of 10 and 2 = 2 × 5 = 10 So, 1 × 5 2 × 5 = 5 10 9 × 1 10 × 1 = 9 10 Now, subtraction of 9 10 and 5 10 = 9 10 - 5 10 = 9 - 5 10 = 4 10 = 2 5 Hence, Nandini walked around 2 5 km .

Jaidev takes 2 1 5 minutes to walk across the school ground. Rahul takes 7 4 minutes to do the same. Who takes less time and by what fraction?

Given, Jaidev takes 2 1 5 minutes to walk across the school ground that is 5 × 2 + 1 5 minutes = 11 5 minutes And Rahul takes 7 4 minutes to walk across the school ground. So, now to get the answer we will compare both the fractions, 11 5 and 7 4 are unlike fractions. So, we will make it like fractions by taking LCM of their denominators. So, factors of 5 = 1 × 5 and factors of 4 = 2 × 2 So, LCM of 5 and 4 = 2 × 2 × 5 = 20 So, 11 5 = 11 × 4 5 × 4 = 44 20 and 7 4 = 7 × 5 4 × 5 = 35 20 Now, we will subtract 35 20 from 44 20 . So, 44 20 - 35 20 = 44 - 35 20 = 9 20 minutes. Now, we will compare 44 20 and 35 20 So, 44 20 > 35 20 So, 2 1 5 > 7 4 Hence, Rahul takes less time than Jaidev by 9 20 minutes.
