Aryan race - The Aryans are regarded as the creators of the Aryan civilization in India. The land over which they lived was called 'Aryavrata'. In the initial days, the Aryans settled in the northwestern part of India which was also called the 'Sapta Sindhu' region. Gradually, their territory extended till Mithila in the east and the Vindhyachal in the south in the Later Vedic period. Their land was also called 'Bharatvarsha', 'Bharatbhumi' and 'Bharatkhand' after the renowned king Arya Bharat. The Aryans loved nature and composed hymns or 'Richas' dedicated to different natural elements like the Sun, mountains, rivers, etc. They also recited the Vedas and performed yajnas.

Dravidian race - The Dravidians are regarded as the creators of the Indus Valley Civilization. They gifted us the concept of seeing mother as a 'Goddess' and father as a 'God' which eventually culminated into the imageries of Shiva and Parvati. 'Dhup', 'Deep' and 'Aarti' were the traditions of the Dravidians. They worshipped nature and animals and had a matriarchal system of family. They made huge progress in arts and crafts like building boats, rafts, spinning, dyeing, etc. They spoke languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, etc. Under the growing dominance of the Aryans, they shifted to the southern part of India.
